Customer visit showcases major shipbuilding projects and the transition toward cleaner inland-waterway transport.

CHANGZHOU, China – On June 29, representatives of Jiangsu Daxuan Welding Materials Co., Ltd. visited Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering Co., Ltd.
Taizhou Sanfu is a major shipbuilding enterprise with substantial capabilities. In 2006, it was recognized as one of Jiangsu Province’s top ten shipbuilders. It has also received honors including Top 100 Private Enterprise in Jiangsu Province, Civilized Organization of Jiangsu Province, Top 30 Enterprise in Taizhou and Top 10 Private Enterprise in Taizhou.
During the visit, the 12,500 DWT multipurpose heavy-lift vessel *BBC ARKHANGELSK*, built by Taizhou Sanfu for export to Germany, departed from the Sanfu pier and began its voyage.
Taizhou Sanfu also successfully launched a 64 TEU green, intelligent, fully electric demonstration vessel for inland waterways. It is China’s first independently designed and built fully electric inland container vessel with proprietary intellectual property rights.
The vessel’s design and construction overcame numerous technical challenges, resulting in more than 50 intellectual property achievements and several industry standards. It is scheduled for commercial operation on the inland waterway route of more than 270 kilometers between Shanggang Terminal in Anji, Zhejiang, and Waigaoqiao Terminal in Shanghai.
Replacing conventional diesel-powered vessels with fully electric vessels will support cleaner, greener water transport. It will also contribute to China’s carbon-peaking and carbon-neutrality goals and support the transition to cleaner energy.
